U.K. Conservatives Sip a Poisonous Fairness Drink

What is the point of electing conservatives if, once in office, they are more worried about “fairness” than economic growth and prosperity?

Examples of this are coming thick and fast from Europe, but an important one just arrived from England.  Citing concerns about “fairness”, the government of Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron refused to fully reverse the increase from 40% to 50% in the U.K.’s top tax rate, that it had inherited from the previous Labour government.  Instead, the Conservatives came up with what is close to the worst of all possible worlds, a promise to reduce the top tax rate to 45%, effective April 6, 2013.
