The statists are swarming, energized by the cry: “Inequality is unfair!”
Behind this preposterous and vicious campaign lies the doctrine known as “egalitarianism.” Its philosophical source is, naturally, a Harvard professor: John Rawls. It took forty years for his ponderous ivory-tower theories to filter down through the culture. But now “Inequality is unfair!” is blared by every anti-capitalist from President Obama to the pope, from the new mayor of New York City to the Occupy Wall Street rabble.
