CA Can't Mimic No-Tax TX Without Spending Cuts

Recently, the Los Angeles Times published an opinion piece by UCLA economics professor Ivo Welch discussing what California might do to fix the state’s seemingly broken tax code and maintain its ability to collect enough revenue to fund public services and projects. Welch’s proposed solution to this ongoing problem is to increase the Golden State’s property tax rates and to eliminate both the income tax and the sales tax.
