Treasury Secretary Jack Lew & Co. think MetLife, a company that provides fairly simple insurance products, is such a scary outfit it should be designated a “systemically important financial institution” — a k a SIFI, a k a “too big to fail” — and get the same rigorous oversight as all those high-rollers that gave us the 2008 financial crisis.
