Jobless Rate May Be Flawed Fed Indicator

The percentage of prime-working-age Americans, those between 25 and 54, who are in the labor force fell to a 30-year low of 80.7 in July. In April, the percentage of prime-working-age men in the labor force fell to 87.9, the lowest figure reported since the government began computing the figure in 1948.

At issue is why all those people are not in the labor force.
