Hypocrite Harvard Profs & Statism's Insanity

Much has been made of the ignominious display of hypocrisy by Harvard professors, who cannot bear the thought of paying more for their health care even as a direct result of legislation they overwhelmingly supported. Of course, conservatives celebrated the spectacle of the Left's chickens coming home to roost. Their schadenfreude prompted New York Magazine to spin the deductible increases that angered Harvard's employees as a conservative idea, noting that the Right has promoted the concept of "skin in the game" as a solution to rising health care costs. But this analysis ignores any distinction between government policies and market conditions in eliciting higher deductibles. Conservatives do not object in principle to high out-of-pocket costs, especially if such an outcome were to result from the collective decisions of free market participants. But they cannot be held responsible for the unpopular effects of Obamacare's myriad regulations and taxes.
