What Low Inflation Really Means for Stocks

Low inflation is usually bad for stocks.

That’s important to keep in mind in light of this week’s news that inflation over the past 12 months has turned negative. Yet many investors are instead celebrating, on the widely held belief that lower inflation is good for stocks and higher inflation is bad.

But, as is often is the case, this conventional wisdom is misleading, if not plain wrong.
